Do not lie. The Ninth Commandment in
Exodus 20:16 admonishes us not to lie. An original song “Don't Lie
To Me” performed by Phillip Lucero and Jessie Farren has been
prominently featured in a music video. Episodes of an American crime
drama on Fox network as a TV show 2009-2011 were fairly popular and
entitled “Lie to Me.” Lies apparently appear in different guises
and are popular in American culture whether in the Bible as an
admonition, song or on TV.
Why do people lie?
Well-known is primarily the role plays by a criminal or non-criminal minds alike, to cover their tracks. People use deception, more often than not, to save their neck or in trying to help them get out of a troubling situation. Some individuals may feel that by lying, it may make them look good or better than their friends, so they fabricate a story to present themselves in a good light. Others will come to see their tactic as deceitful and despise their deceit.
Liars may intentionally practice disinformation by withholding vital pieces of information about themselves that they think may make them look bad. Lies of omissions are generally practiced by politicians, salesmen or even some of your own friends. During wartime, nations may broadcast propaganda especially to try to give them an upper hand in the “War of Words.”
But lies can also be through ignorance. A person may be certain of details about some current affair issue. He may naturally not see the whole picture because he is convinced that he is right. So through sheer ignorance he may be making decisions and giving his company's line, but it may not be really based on all the facts. Yet he will continually be insisting that he knows what he is talking about. On that agent's part, such behavior may be through sheer ignorance.
Why people should fear lying?
It can very well be that why some people actually lie can be because they may fear the consequences of their actions. They may feel that if they tell the truth they may get into trouble, so like that they may be suppressing the truth about relevant information. Some liars twist the facts in order to wiggle out of some uncomfortable problem. It was America's president Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) that declared, “The only thing to fear is fear itself.” On December 10, 1948, The United Nations General Assembly refers to Freedom from Fear as a fundamental human right, as one of the Four Freedoms in its charter. Whether it is a fear of the build up of armaments or of being found out cheating, we must be courageous and tell the truth.
Quite
important it is to be brave, for in 1943 Norman Rockwell (1894-1978)
created Freedom from Fear, in his series of four paintings called
Four Freedoms. Such a theme was also prominent in David M. Kennedy's
book, Freedom From Fear: The Depression and War, 1929-1945.
Americans must never fear even in times of national crisis when
disinformation and propaganda are ruling the airwaves, for with
courage, freedom and hope, the truth will always triumph in the end.
Live
The Fullest Free From Lies
Forget
lies and embrace love that leads to self-esteem and self-confidence.
Come to know the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that provides all that
we need from his abundance. This calls for trusting in a Supreme
Being. With such a belief every fabrication will go out of the
window. In your spiritual walk, you will be focused on Him. If a
believer is determined to achieve a goal, he will persevere to the
end. He will try and try again by doing what is right, true and
just.
Such an individual will be able to focus more on what dreams are most important to him. These will determine how he lives. By a life free from telling lies and deception, he will stop judging himself and put down his net again into the water. Not heeding to frustration about not catching any fish that day, to the Lord's command he casts out his net again into deeper water, and cannot believe his catch in following this truth.
